Anyone with low mood, loss of motivation, low self-worth or emotional distress. Consulting a physician is also suggested because it can help rule out medical contributors.

Depression can arise from a combination of biological, psychological, and environmental factors, including genetics, brain chemistry, negative thought patterns, chronic stress, trauma, or major life changes. Learn more about Depression.

A depression diagnosis is based on specific criteria such as persistent low mood (more days than not) and a loss of interest in normally enjoyed activities. There are different kinds of depression. We can assess you and help determine if you are depressed and identify the factors affecting your mood.

Sessions are typically 1 hour; intake sessions may be 90 minutes. Fees range $215–$225, and are often covered by extended health benefits. Reduced fees may be available.

Low self-esteem can increase vulnerability to depression by reinforcing negative thoughts, self-criticism, and feelings of hopelessness, making it harder to cope with stress and life challenges. Read our blog post about how self-esteem influences mood.

Some people find it less overwhelming to attend an appointment virtually with our online services. You may also find it more manageable to commit to one appointment to start and then see how you feel after that. As psychology clinicians we are trained to help, even if you don’t know where to start.
