Therapy That Helps You Feel More Calm, Clear, and Supported

Psychotherapy for adults, adolescents, and couples – offered in Hamilton and online across Ontario.

Considering Therapy?

Psychotherapy is a collaborative, talk-based therapy to help individuals and couples understand and heal patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving that cause distress.

Therapy offers a safe, supportive space to explore challenges, build healthier coping, and create meaningful lasting change.

People seek psychotherapy for many reasons, including stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, overwhelming feelings and self-defeating behaviours.

Therapy is not only for times of crisis—it’s a path to self-discovery, personal growth, and greater well-being.

FAQ

Psychotherapy is a regulated healthcare service in Ontario that can only be provided by licensed professionals and is usually used for mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, and trauma. Psychotherapy often involves deeper clinical assessment and evidence-based treatment approaches compared to therapy or counselling. Psychological services are more skilled and comprehensive because unlike psychotherapists or counsellors, psychology clinicians are regulated by the College of Psychologists of Ontario, and can diagnose when needed.

Psychotherapy is a ‘controlled act’ in Ontario and can only be delivered by trained and regulated mental health professionals such as psychotherapists and psychologists who meet professional and ethical standards. Clinicians providing psychotherapy must have a Masters degree and be licensed.

All of our services fall under “psychological services”. We can provide therapeutic services (usually called “psychotherapy or therapy or counselling”) and assessment and diagnosis services. Because we are licensed to assess and diagnose (unlike many therapy or psychotherapy practices) we can help determine what kind of treatment or therapy would best suit your needs. This is usually done using a detailed intake form that includes psychological screening, and then a guided discussion during your first intake session. If you don’t know what your goals or needs are, that is ok- we will help you figure that out!

Therapy is a process, and meaningful change usually unfolds over time. The pace depends on your goals, the challenges you bring, and your comfort level. Most clients notice progress after several sessions, with deeper change developing as therapy continues.

Yes. Secure online therapy is available for clients across Ontario and offers the same level of professional care as in-person sessions. Learn more about online services.

Anyone experiencing emotional distress, mental health concerns, or life challenges can benefit from therapy. You do not need to be in crisis to seek support.
