Psychological services are not covered by OHIP, however, most extended health benefit plans cover psychology. The cost is lower than many psychology service rates and is between $215 and $225, with some lower fee options available.

Many therapy practices hire clinicians that are new to the field and not receiving ongoing direct supervision. In our practice, we are regulated by the College of Psychologists & Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (highest standard for mental health care) and with supervised services- Dr. Jennifer Barbera PhD, C. Psych reviews each intake and provides ongoing supervision to the clinician. As a psychology practice, we can assess and diagnose to ensure we are providing the most appropriate treatment. All clinicians have thousands of hours of clinical experience & training in a number of evidence-based approaches.

Counselling and therapy provide support and coping strategies, while psychotherapy offers more structured treatment for emotional and behavioural challenges. Psychological services represent the highest standard of care: from clinicians regulated by the College of Psychologists (CPBAO). We combine evidence-based therapy with formal assessment and diagnosis as needed. Many clients come to us after psychotherapy for a diagnosis, which only psychological providers can provide. Licensing in psychology requires competency in BOTH psychotherapy and differential diagnosis. All of our services fall under ‘psychological services’.

Evidence-based treatment means using therapies that have been scientifically studied and shown to work for specific issues, rather than relying on guesswork, trends, or only supportive counselling. Most of us are trained in:

CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy)

ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy)

DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy)

EFT (Emotion Focused Therapy)

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization, and Reprocessing)

IFS (Internal Family Systems)

Memory Reconsolidation (Coherence Therapy)
