Assessment & Therapy for ADHD in Hamilton and Online Across Ontario
Helping adults and adolescents find focus, balance, and practical tools for managing life
Feeling overwhelmed, scattered, or exhausted?
ADHD is not a lack of effort or motivation.
It’s a neurodevelopmental condition that affects executive functioning abilities such as attention, impulse control, & emotional regulation. ADHD can leave people feeling scattered, overwhelmed, or misunderstood.
Dr. Jennifer Barbera, PhD, & her team offer compassionate, evidence-based ADHD assessment and counselling to help adults and adolescents better understand their brains, reduce overwhelm, and apply practical strategies for daily life.
What Is ADHD Therapy?
ADHD therapy supports individuals in understanding how ADHD shows up in their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, while building skills that help them find a smoother way forward.
Therapy for ADHD can be highly effective in reducing disruptions in focus, planning, organization, and follow-through, while also strengthening emotion regulation and stress tolerance.
A progressive therapeutic approach recognizes that ADHD rarely exists in isolation; We thoughtfully take mood and anxiety symptoms, energy levels, sleep, relationships, and lifestyle demands into account.
Rather than focusing only on difficulties, our approach builds on existing strengths while teaching practical strategies to support attention, executive functioning, and emotional regulation, offering care that is realistic, compassionate, and tailored to everyday life.

FAQ
No. You do not need a formal diagnosis to begin ADHD-informed counselling. Many people start therapy while exploring whether ADHD may be part of their experience. If a diagnosis would be helpful, we can also discuss assessment options. Either way, we can assist with concerns such as distractibility, procrastination and emotion regulation.
Adult ADHD often looks different than childhood ADHD. Common signs include chronic overwhelm, difficulty with focus or organization, procrastination, emotional reactivity, time blindness, forgetfulness, or feeling exhausted from “keeping up” with everyday tasks.
An assessment can help clarify whether ADHD—or something overlapping such as anxiety, trauma, or burnout—is contributing to your difficulties.
